Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
Description
On an olive drab diamond with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) olive drab border, 3 11/16 inches (9.37 cm) wide by 4 3/16 inches (10.64 cm) high, the ultramarine blue monogram “YD.”
Symbolism
Blue is a color associated with Infantry. The monogram refers to the “Yankee Division,” the original allocation of the organization.
Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 26th Division on 28 June 1922. It was amended to change the description on 6 May 1936. It was redesignated for the 26th Infantry Brigade, Massachusetts Army National Guard with the description and symbolism added on 6 October 1993. The insignia was redesignated effective 1 September 2006, for the 26th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. It was redesignated effective 1 September 2008, for the 26th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.
